Activites in the Highland    
 

The Ecuadorian Andes, with Chimborazo (6310m) as Ecuador’s highest peak, runs north to south with over 10 volcanoes, of which a few are still active. This route is also called Avenue of the Volcanoes. It is built by two parallel volcanic mountain ranges, with a valley nestled between them. You can find a variety of activities to do in this area.

Climbing Volcanoes – Cotopaxi with 5897m is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world; the marvelous view of the volcano will leave you breathless. Cayambe and Chimborazo are also popular mountains to climb. These mountains are technical climbs in snow and ice. The volcano closest to Quito is the majestic

Pichincha. You can take a day hike to the top or just admire its beauty from Quito.Indian Markets. – These markets are some of the best places to buy all your presents for your family and friends. You can find a variety of merchandise at the markets such as handicrafts, souvenirs, leather and wooden items, jewelry, clothing, and paintings. All items are handmade by our natives who will be waiting to bargain with you when you arrive. Some popular markets are in the towns of Otavalo, Saquisili, Pujili, Zumbahua, but those are only examples.

Trekking and Water Sports - The country of Ecuador provides you with a variety of places to do all the activities you desire. Rafting and Kayaking is available in many rivers near Baños, Tena, and Santo Domingo. You can also see the country on a mountain bike. Tours range from one day at Cotopaxi for example to 5-8 days all along the costal range. Whichever activity you choose, the beauty of this country will take your breath away.
